GMCMF announces new Artistic Director

ELIZABETH CHANG NAMED NEW ARTISTIC DIRECTOR OF GREEN MOUNTAIN CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL BURLINGTON, VT (September 22, 2021) Elizabeth Chang has been chosen as artistic director of Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival by the Festival’s Board of Directors, succeeding founder Kevin Lawrence. “It is a great honor to be selected as artistic director of Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival,” said Chang. “I am looking forward to the opportunity to sustain Kevin Lawrence’s extraordinary vision in conceiving this festival and shaping it into one of the most meaningful offerings for pre-professional musicians in the country.” Lawrence, who announced his retirement as director of the program in July, expressed his appreciation for the appointment: “It will be a delight to serve on the Festival faculty in future summers with Elizabeth Chang as our next artistic director. I know Liz will be a fantastic leader for GMCMF" Elizabeth Chang has been a member of the GMCMF violin faculty since 2007 and enjoys a multi-faceted career as performer, teacher, and arts administrator. Her chamber music appearances have included collaborations with many of today's leading artists. She is currently professor of violin at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and faculty member of the Pre-College Division of The Juilliard School. She is artistic director and co-founder of the Lighthouse Chamber Players as well as co-founder and co-organizer of the Five College New Music Festival and the UMass Amherst Bach Festival and Symposium. A graduate of Harvard University, Ms. Chang was the recipient of the Presidential Scholar in the Arts Award and the Beebe Fellowship for Study Abroad, awarded by New England Conservatory.
