FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GREEN MOUNTAIN CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL NAMES THE CANDIDE QUARTET AS 2026 BARNEBL STRING QUARTET FELLOWS
Juilliard-Based Ensemble Selected for Inaugural Fellowship Honoring the Late David Barnebl
Colchester, Vermont: The Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival (GMCMF) is proud to announce the selection of the Candide Quartet as the inaugural recipients of the Barnebl String Quartet Fellowship. The quartet, violinists Chili Ekman and Henry Rogers, violist Amelia Krinke, and cellist Vanny Hu, will serve as Green Mountain Fellows during the 2026 summer festival and will perform seven professional concerts across the United States throughout the 2026–2027 season.
Formed in 2023 at the Juilliard School, the Candide Quartet has quickly established itself as one of the most promising young ensembles in the country. The quartet has held fellowships at Music in the Vineyards, Madeline Island Chamber Music, and Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival, and was selected for both the Robert Mann String Quartet Seminar and the Calidore Quartet Seminar at the University of Delaware. They recently made their Alice Tully Hall debut as part of Juilliard's Honors Chamber Program, and have performed at Carnegie Hall alongside composer Caroline Shaw.
The Barnebl String Quartet Fellowship was established through a generous gift from Linda Barnebl in memory of her late husband David Barnebl. In addition to the seven-concert series, the fellowship includes a professional consultation with John Zion, President and CEO of MKI Artists, mentorship with the Balourdet Quartet, and extensive teaching and performance opportunities during the 2026 summer festival.
The Candide Quartet will join GMCMF's full roster of 2026 Fellows at St. Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont this summer. The fellowship's seventh and final concert will take place at the opening of the 2027 Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival.
