Sean Brekke
Sean Brekke was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, where he began his musical studies with Anna Elashvili and Ina Litera at the Third Street Music School Settlement. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Viola Performance in 2016, studying under Danielle Farina.
Sean has performed with ensembles including the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, Bergen Symphony Orchestra, String Orchestra of Brooklyn, Burlington Choral Society, and Aurora Chamber Singers, and has collaborated with artists such as Natalie Merchant. His performances have taken him from Carnegie Hall in New York City to piazzas across Tuscany, Italy. He has also participated in masterclasses with the Catalyst Quartet, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Jon Manasse, and Kim Kashkashian.
In 2021, Sean relocated to Burlington, Vermont, where he has served as Music Director at Orchard Valley Waldorf School and Executive Director of the Green Mountain Youth Symphony. He currently works with the Vermont Youth Orchestra Association, maintains a private studio teaching violin and viola, and manages his professional ensemble, the Vireo Quartet. Sean is the Concert Manager for the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival where he oversees 50+ concerts each summer during the festival.
With over a decade of teaching experience, Sean has worked with students of all ages in private lessons, chamber music coaching, and orchestral settings. His lifelong dedication to music continues to shape his rewarding career as both an educator and performer.
